Community & Youth Center. On Jan 20, 1969, the city signed a $93,780 contract to build a substantial teen center on the site of the old pavilion. It opened to the public Sept. 15, but its run wasn’t particularly successful. After years of declining interest the Youth Council threw in the towel in 1984 and disbanded. The building has since been used as a senior citizens center. – Frank Boyett
