Thomas Evans was born 1821, a son of Rev. Thomas Evans (1781-1847).
Thomas Evans married Henrietta Hancock on 10 July 1845 in Henderson Co., Kentucky. They had 6 children: Alice, Samual, Frances, Henrietta, Martha, Thomas


Thomas Evans was a successful merchant in Henderson, operating a grocery store house on the corner of Main and Second Streets.

Thomas Evans died 31 May 1899.

Obituary, The Henderson Weekly Journal • Fri, Jun 02, 1899:
The death of Mr. Thomas Evans occurred at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. E. M. Baird, on Elm street, this morning at 7:45. Deceased was born in New Orleans 79 years ago and came to this city at the age of one year with his parents. He was for many years, in fact up to his retirement from active business pursuits, one of the leading merchants here and was very highly esteemed by all who knew him. He had been slowly failing in health for several years and for the past few weeks he failed rapidly.
Three daughters survive: Mrs. Fannye Johnson, Mrs. E M. Baird and Mrs. Joe Allen.
The interment will occur from the residence tomorrow afternoon at 6 o’clock. The pall bearers will be: Messrs. J. H. Barrett, R. H. Cunningham, Walter Alves, R. D. Vance, A. B Sights, David Banks, C. F. Nosworthy, and R. H. Soaper.
