Charles Unverzagt Sr. was born in Brunswick Germany, on 7 Febuary 1840. He immigrated to America in 1857 and moved to Henderson. Charles was in the meat business with business partner Henry Smith.
Charles Unverzagt Sr. died 6 May 1907 and was buried in Fernwood Cemetery Section 14 / Lot 83N / Grave 4.

Obituary: Henderson Morning Gleaner • Tue, May 07, 1907:
Charles Unverzagt, one of the pioneer business men of Henderson, died at his home on Clay street last night at 10:05 o’clock, having suffered for sometime from a complication of diseases. He was born in Brunswick Germany, on Febuary 7th, sixty-six years ago and came to Henderson a the age of seventeen. When a youn man he was married in this city to Miss Henrietta Vogel. Mr. Unverzagt was for thirty-six years in the meat business with Henry Smith and his success is evidenced by the large fortune he accum ulated. A large number of sons an daughters survive him. They are: H H., Charles, Jr., Herman and Al H Unverzagt; Mrs. Minnie Yaney, Mrs. Dan Gayle, Mrs. Oscar Martin, Mrs Henry Smith and Miss Mamle Unverzagt. The funeral arrangements will be made today.
