Obituary:
Dr. Robert K. Hatchett, 77, of Evansville, formerly of Henderson, died Sunday, August 16, 2009, at his home.
He was a 1953 graduate of Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, and a 1958 graduate of the University of Louisville with a doctor of dental medicine degree. He also received a graduate degree in orthodontics from the University of Missouri in 1963. Dr. Hatchett served as an orthodontist with the U.S. Army for 25 years, after which he and his wife operated orthodontic offices in both Henderson and Evansville until retirement in 2002. Dr. Hatchett authored a book entitled, “Hatchett Genealogy: A Five Hundred Year History.”
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Sally Crawford Hatchett, who died November 23, 2004; his parents, Hawkins Hart and Lucy Jennings Hatchett; and one brother, Hawkins Hart Hatchett Jr.
Survivors include two daughters, S. Gail Bursch and her husband, Donald Edward Bursch, of Nashville, Tennessee, and Nancy A. Mellor and her husband, Robert John Mellor, of Melbourne, Florida; one sister, Martha Neal Hatchett Williams of Ohio; one brother, Louis Hatchett of Henderson; two granddaughters, Susan L. Bursch and Julie L. Bursch, both of Nashville, Tennessee; nieces and nephews.
Eulogy services will be at noon Saturday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, 604 Center Street, Henderson, Kentucky. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson, with full military rites.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today and until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
