Walter Scott Smith was born in Virginia on 3 Apr 1866 to Dr Samuel Carter Smith (1831 – 1913) and Susan Jane Street Smith (1831 – 1910). His parents moved to Henderson when he was still a child.

Walter was unmarried and made his home with the sister, Mrs. G. R. Williams, at 618 North Green street.

Walter was a mechanic, locksmith, and bicycle repair man who owned and operated a store at 36 N Elm.

Walter Smith died 22 Jan 1933 (aged 66) and was buried in Fernwood Cemetery.

Funeral services for Walter S. Smith, 66, who died Sunday at the home of his sister, Mrs. G. R. Williams, were held this afternoon at the Williams residence, the Rev. I. J. Heizer of the Central Presbyterian church officiating. Burial was in Fernwood cemetery. Surviving are a brother, W. A. Smith, Galveston, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. J. K. Hayes, Hanson, Ky., Mrs. William Carr of Morganfield and Mrs. Williams.
