The Gleaner of Dec. 13, 1940, reported Atlas Tack Corp. of Fairhaven, Massachusetts planned to open a factory in the building; it operated there from 1941 until Oct. 28, 1970.

On June 16, 1978, while an employee was installing a sprinkler system, sparks from a nearby open burn ignited a fire that would go down as the biggest blaze in Henderson’s history.
