Catherine Ewing, 23, Negro, was shot to death about 10 o’clock this morning as she lay in bed at the home of her mother, Goldie Cruz, 211 North Alvasia street.
Police said they were seeking Sabra Cosby, Negro. about 30, in connection with the case. After the shooting. Cosby boarded a freight train, officers said they were informed.
Coroner E. L. Moss, who held an inquest this afternoon at the Gaines funeral home, said the slayer apparently pressed a shotgun against the woman’s left side and fired as she slept.
A drinking party at the house had preceded the shooting, according to evidence at the inquest.
