PROMINENT HENDERSON BUSINESS MAN DIES – P. P. Johnson Succumbs
Henderson, Sept. 15. After a brief Illness of dropsy and heart trouble, P. P. Johnson, aged 69, one of the most prominent business men of the city, died at his home on Water street at 8:30 o’clock Monday morning.
Mr. Johnson was stricken 10 days ago and gradually grew worse until death. He died while sitting in a chair. He was the senior member of the lumber firm of P. P. Johnson and son. He was actively engaged in business and, despite his advanced years, had not missed a day from his plant in the past 10 years. He is survived by a wife, one daughter, Mrs. Claude V. Utley of Hopkinsville, three sons, James, of this city; Stewart, of Kansas City, and Joseph Johnson of Covington, Ky. The funeral services will be conducted from the residence this afternoon at 4 o’clock by Rev. W. P. Baird pastor of the First Methodist church with interment in Fernwood cemetery.
