“Ragtown” was a section of the city in the area of S Main and Audubon. Mentions of Ragtown are made between 1905 and 1933 in the Gleaner. Notice Kriels Alley was once called Leigh Place according to the 1923 Sanborn Map. Charles Kriel ran a grocery store once located at 600 S Main, which explains the name of Kriels Alley just behind it. Also Notice West Main Street, which runs parallel to S Main between Towels and Jackson Streets. The road is currently not accessible due to sand.
