Obituary:
Sammy Stone 73, a Russian immigrant who operated a cobbler shop in Henderson for 33 years, suffered a fatal heart attack at 9 p.m. Friday at his home here.
Mr. Stone was born in Odessa, Russia in 1878. He left Russia, a professional cobbler at the age of 12, and traveled throughout Europe before coming to the U. S.
In this country, he first set up shop in New York City but left there for the West. When he became disgusted with the cowboy version of boots, which he said wasted too much leather, Mr. Stone at the suggestion of friends came to Henderson where he opened his store in 1917.
Mr. Stone suffered a heart attack at his home in Audubon about 9 p.m. and was rushed to Methodist hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
