Samuel C. (S. C.) Talley was born 1 July 1849 in Halifax County Virginia. He moved to Henderson and ran a successful livery business for many years. In 1879 he married Ida White. Samuel died on 12 April 1924 and was buried in Fernwood Cemetery / Section 22 / Lot 1157 / Grave 4.

Obituary:
Henderson, Ky. – April 12 – Sam C Talley, Sr. died this morning at 11:15 oclock at his home, 313 Third street, as a result of a high blood pressure. He was down town Thursday morning and, not feeling well, started home, but collapsed on the side walk.
He is survived by his wife, one son, Sam G. Talley, Jr. and three daughters, Mrs. Harry Peter of this City, Mrs. Roy Tippin of Henderson county and Mrs. Forest Traylor of Atlanta, Ga., and two brothers and a sister, W. J. and Dave Talley and Miss Martha Virginia Talley, all of Lunenberg county, Va.
Talley was born in Halifax county, Va, July, 1, 1849, and was nearing his seventy-fifth birthday.
He came to Henderson when he was a young man and in 1879 married Miss Ida White. He conducted a livery in this city for thirty years, but for the past few years has been salesman of Ford machines. He joined the Baptist church forty-five years ago and has been devoted and consistent member ever since.
