“The Henderson Crusade was written by Charles E Dietze, who retired after sixteen years as Regional Minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in North Carolina. He now lives in Henderson, Kentucky, where he was pastor of First Christian Church from February, 1948 until June, 1952. During that pastorate, Dr. Dietze was one of the founders of the Henderson County Good Government League which spearheaded a movement which eliminated the control of the community by a gambling element which had ruled for over thirty years. It is the story of that movement which is told on these pages and was written at the request of a number of Henderson citizens.”
