Albert Hodge Abbott was born 28 June 1875 to Robert H Abbott (1849-1899) and Sarah A. “Sallie” Fenley (1850-1891). Albert was born and reared on a farm in Henderson county, obtaining his education in the county schools.

Albert worked in the sheriff’s office from 1902, first as road deputy for two years, and from 1904 until his election as sheriff in 1910, he had charge of the office books. Abbott served as sheriff from 1910 to 1914.

Albert Abbott married Bessie May Alley on 8 July 1901 in Posey County, Indiana. They had two children before getting divorced 25 Feb 1911.

Albert Abbott then married Ada Book (1872-1939) on 1 March 1911 in Owensboro, Kentucky. On March 31, 1911, Abbott purchased the house at 113 Clay Street from Dr. Stewart O. Marshall.

According to the 1930 census, Albert and Ada were divorced and Albert had moved to California.

Albert was postmaster at La Verne, California for four years before he died on 2 Jul 1939 (aged 64). The Rev. A. D. Butters, pastor of the Methodist church in La Verne, of which church Mr. Abbott was an attendant, officiated the funeral. Interment was made in Pomona cemetery.
