Clarence Leslie Clay was born 22 Feb 1873 to James Franklin Clay (1840 – 1921) and Bessie Eaves Clay (1844 – 1913)

C L Clay married Leona Tichenor Clay (1878 – 1967) and they built a house at 327 Powell Street.

Clarence was president of the Chamber of Commerce and proprietor of the Clay Drug Company at 222 Second Street.

Clarence died 13 Mar 1946 (aged 72). He was buried in Fernwood Cemetery.
