Clark’s Grocery opened on Mar 27, 1907 at Second and Adams streets (601 Second). L. E. Clark, proprietor.
“The Store of Quallty,” the store of the times, the store that caters to the wants and appetited of Hender-son’s population where all the good things to be had in a well-stocked grocery store can be found at reasonable prices.
At the head of this popular grocery store stands L. E. Clark, proprietor, whose active business life and honest trade methods are known too well to justify a lengthy recital of them here. Mr. Clark is a market specialist, who knows the business from beginning to end. He carries nothing but goods of high quality and caters to the masses. With such large and comprehensive stock and high class varieties in the eating line, he has built up a trade that is substantial and loyal and his enormous trade requires a large force and several delivery wagons to meet the demand. His store is large, well equipped and is a model from top to basement, with every known article in the grocery line, including a complete list of staple and fancy groceries, and all the delicacies contained in cans and bottles, of foreign and domestic manufacture. This store handles also, dressed poultry, country produce, fresh vegetables and fruits.
From the plain, everyday meal to the most elaborate function, nothing omitted in the comprehensive stock. For that Sunday dinner, a long list of good things await your order and can be delivered on short notice to your kitchen door.
Polite attention to patrons, good treatment and honest weights and prices are the ruling features at this store and you get eatables of the best quality and just what you order at all times.
All the popular vegetables are constantly carried, fruits of all kinds, oysters of the best quallty, coffees and teas of class and favor, canned and bottle goods, covering everything and of the most popular brands.
Fresh country sorghum and sugar-house molasses; canned syrups in a large variety, pure Virginia maple syrup, guaranteed pure: delicious honey and buckwheat and pancake flours; these are a few of the almost countless good things found at Mr. Clark’s Quality Store.
Mr. Clark has made wonderful success as a dealer, and it can be attributed solely to his honest dealings and good business methods. At all times he has kept quality to the fore and prices down to a live and let live basis. Then, another reason for his stores growth in patronage is his well known reputation for handling just the things the people want and in large assortments.
Mr. Clark is a conservative business man and his standard of dealing has been such in all these years, that he has the confidence of man, woman and child. With him, it is always “quality” and satisfaction or your money back.
The Journal recognizes in this progressive edition, Mr. Clark as a leading factor in the grocery business in Henderson and recommends him to the trade in general as a reliable gentleman and an honest dealer.
Clark sold the business on Jun 18, 1921 to Lloyd Grocery Co.
