Mecca Cafe at the corner of Second and N Elm Streets. Later the location of the Kentucky Bakery.

The Mecca Cafe, of which J. J. Bolton is proprietor, is one of the best conducted places of the kind in this part of the state. It Is localed at the corner of Second and Elm streets, on the car line to and from the depot, and in addition to the bar, in which is carried a large assortment of wines, beers and liquors, there is the cigar and tobacco department, pool room and short order restaurant, and over all is Liederkranz hall, the largest public hall in the city, which can be hired for dances and all entertainment of a proper character. J. J. Bolton caters to a class of patronage who are above the rowdy class, and he never permits anything of objectionable nature in or about the Mecca. He insists upon order and gentlemanly conduct in each department of his business, and this in no small degree accounts for the favorable name the place bears today.
