Dayton Cary Denton was born in Henderson
12 Jan 1886 to Harvey Wilson Denton (1861 – 1933) and Eliza Poole Denton (1861 – 1936). The family lived at 609 S Green Street.

Dayton operated a successful commercial printing company under his own name, D. C. Denton’s Printing. The first print shop was located on the second floor of 100 N Main (Corner of N Main and First Street). In 1915 the print shop moved to the basement of the Ohio Valley Bank (N Main and Second Street) where it remained for 37 years. The business moved to 308 Second Street in 1952 while under the management of his nephew, Harvey B. Denton.

Dayton died on 21 May 1943 (aged 57) and was buried in Fernwood Cemetery lot 1578, 2.

Dayton C. Denton, 57, died Friday at his home, 609 S. Green st, following a lingering illness. Mr. Denton for years has operated a printing shop in the Ohio Valley Bank Building. He was an active member of the Elks Lodge. Surviving are a sister, Mamie. and a niece, Mrs. James Conley both of Henderson, and a nephew, Harvey B. Denton, in the U. S. Navy. Funeral services at 3 p. m. Sunday, at the residence, the Rev. Mr. Brown B. Smith officiating. Burial in Fernwood Cemetery where services at the grave will be conducted by the Elks Lodge.
