HENDERSON, Ky., Sept 9. – Ellis Gibson, for “sassing” and abusing his mother-in-law, Mrs. Nora Culver, in the middle of the big road, was today adjudged guilty by a jury in the circuit court and fined $25 and costs.

Mrs. Culver got up and thanked the jury for the verdict, but Judge Henson called her down by saying that an expression of thanks was not necessary in this instance.

Later Mrs. Culver said that she didn’t think the fine was near large enough, but that it would do. The formal charge against Gibson was breach of the peace.
