Kentucky Bakery began in approximately 1886 by Jacob Beugger. He operated his bakery at 113 N Main Street. In 1907, Jacob sold his business to his son, Charles W. Beugger. In 1909, Herman Boog, of Vincennes, Ind., purchased the bakery. In 1920, Boog moved the Kentucky Bakery into a new building at the corner of Second and Elm street. Later that same year, Henderson’s most spectacular fire in years reduced to ruins the large building, entailing a loss estimated by H. Boog at $41,500, and only partially cover by insurance. Boog rebuilt the bakery and continued operations.

On 10 July 1928, articles of incorporation of the Kentucky Bakery were filed on record in the county clerk’s office, listing the capital stock at $40,000.
The stock is divided into 400 shares at $100 each; the stockholders are Herman Boog, 290 shares;
R. P. Hooker, of Evansville, 100 shares and Ocie Boog, 10 shares. Boog acting as president and treasurer and Mr. Hooker as vice president and general manager.

In 1947, Herman Boog retired. His son-in-law, Frank Wolfe, took over operations. (Frank was married to Ocie Boog Wolfe, Herman’s daughter.)

Kentucky Bakery closed in 1962. The family sold the five lots at Second and Elm to Farmers Bank on April 26, 1962.

The building was razed in March 1963 to make way for the current Old National Bank building on that site.
