Construction started January 17, 1955 on the Kentucky Terrace Motel, built on a 10-acre plot 300 yards south of the entrance to Audubon State Park on Highway 41.

Opened in July of 1955, the Kentucky Terrace Motel featured 50 units and a swimming pool built in the shape of the state of Kentucky.

A gasoline service station and Howard Johnson restaurant operated in conjunction with the motel.

The location is now a parking lot for a Holiday Inn and Comfort Inn.
