The Nickelodeon, at 120 Main street, between First and Second, is to be remodeled at an early date.
Among the Improvements to be made are an ornamental steel front, an inclined floor to run from the street to the partition. The partition Itself will be made new, with four large doors for entrance and exit. An Improved ventilating system will also be installed, which will embrace 221 square feet of air space.
The bullding will be repainted, re-decorated, new scenery for the stage will be purchased, new lights are to be added, while the seating capacity is to be Increased from 275 to 850, and standing room for at least one hundred is to be provided for.
This popular theater was established December 15, 1906, by W. R. Walker, of Owensboro, who started with 75 common cane-bottom chairs, and he only showed one reel of pictures per day. Walker soon dis posed of his business to Geo. W. Ragan & Co., who made various Im-provemente and materially increased the seating capacity. Ragan sold the theater to Frank S. and W. G. Haag in October, 1907, who also made 1m-provements and again increased the seating capacity. The present owa-ers, Wm. Hays & Sons, bought the business February 1, 1909.
The theater, when the improvements are made, will be one of the most up-to-date in this part of the state.
