Filling Station’s historical relationship to automobiles is not limited to its name or facade. Inside, there’s a VW beetle built into the back bar. One wall is paneled in old license plates. Automobile tires have been converted into glass. topped pedestal tables. Out back, an old delivery truck has been buried up to its axles in con-crete. The bed has been opened up and built into the frame of the building to become a stage for what, on the night of our adventure, was a remarkably engaging band. – Sara Anne Corrigan
